Dirty Noses

I had written this one a long ways back but it has recently come to my attention again as we just went through a horrible time over the last three days. Both of our standard schnauzer dogs were missing. They went on a joy run with a cute and loveable - but very free roaming stray. Unfortunatley, they couldn't find there way back home. Only after many, many hours and no sleep for three days - was my husband able to find both of them and give me a wonderfully happy Christmas! I couldn't imagine life without our babies - so now I don't have too. Thank you, Nelson!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 little black noses all covered with dirt

What have you been doing all day in the yard?

Glass doors are all streaked and covered with paw prints

I peek out the window and what do I see?

Holes in the dirt, holes in the grass, holes everywhere I look

Outside I go to see what’s been done

I’m greeted by dogs just wanting to have fun

You jump and you lick - You tug and you nip

You drag me to a hole so proud of what you’ve done

I can see what you’ve accomplished

You’ve worked hard all day long

You’ve kept our yard protected - from the moles that live beyond

Gingerly, you look up at me -

with questions in your eyes

Did we do good while you were gone - because we really tried

As I reach down to give you hugs the answer is so clear

My precious pups - for all you do - we’re really glad you’re here

Your tags they wag in unison so I know we feel the same

Our family and our dogs - we are one in life’s sweet game.
