Even Santa Kneels

It's Christmas Eve, the house is quite, the stockings hung with care.  The Christmas tree is decorated and looking oh so bright.  Upon the top an angel stands and watches over us.  Presents fill the floor with boxes and bows all around.  My little boy has put a plate of cookies out for Santa Claus.  Some milk as well and don't foget the raisins for the reindeer.

As I prepare to settle down I hear a little voice.  "Wait, mommy I can't sleep I need to leave this out."  What could he have forgotten.  It looks like all has been done tonight.  I bid him come and show to me what has him out of bed.  The pitter-patter of his feet trotting down the hall just sounds so perfect to my ears I'm awfully glad he's gotten up.

He comes to me and shows me what is in his hands.  My eyes tear up, my heart swells with pride - my son has seen the TRUTH.  This season isn't just for gifts - it's so much more than that.  He knows the reason we are doing this is to celebrate our Christ.  He's gotten out his Sunday School lesson on Salvation and  how it's there for all.  He said he couldn't sleep a wink unless he left it out for Santa.  How proud I am - my boy is wise beyond his years.   His last waking thought was not about a gift for himself but eternal life for Santa.

My job on earth is to raise my son and teach him right from wrong, to teach him how to live his life in ways glorifying to God,  Yet, here I am so humble now as the tables have been turned.  The lessons taught this day were not from me but from my precious son.  The Great Commission lived out right before my very eyes.

When morning came, squeals of joy filled the house.  Santa had come and left a load of so many awesome things.  "Wait, what's this - look daddy, Santa left a note.  I wonder what it says?"  As he read the note aloud, all I could do was stare.  His eyes lit up and sparkled bright, his face was glowing with such joy.

Santa was thrilled that Artie had left him the Word and cared about his soul.  He told him that he understood the true meaning of the day and that he, Santa Claus, believed Jesus was his Lord as well.  How proud he was to call my boy his friend and tell him he too kneeled before Jesus the King.

As for me - what can I say?  My heart was swelled with pride.  Out of the mouths of babes it's said  - the truth it will be told.  So simple and so sweet. If only I could be so bold - to run out and tell all the world the truth that must be told.

All must know that Jesus is Lord.  He came to save the world.  He came into this world as a newborn babe yet a King He always was.  He died for my sins and for yours, then rose again in glory.  His gift is out there for everyone - not just on Christmas Day.    The gift He offers up to us is salvation for all eternity.  So, stop and think it over and please don't pass it up.  After all - even Santa Claus kneels before the King - my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
