(a weird kind of poem but unusual circumstances this year
as I ended up in the hospital out of state for multiple surgeries
and was unable to be around for end of school activities, baseball season or
Mother’s Day this year so, Nelson – here’s to you - 5/08)
It’s Mother’s Day once again
A time to honor moms for all they’ve done
They do so many things both day and night that often go unnoticed
Dishes washed, clothes cleaned, meals cooked, homework done – just to name a few
It’s baseball season so practices must be attended
Games every Saturday take precedence over all else
Rooms get cleaned, teeth get brushed, nighttime prayers said so softly
Through all the daily grind moms always find the time to have a little fun with their special sons
Sometime life throws a family a curveball and sends their life into a spin
Normal roles no longer apply
It’s up to dad to jump aboard and play both mom and dad
So few men are strong enough to handle both these roles
But God has blessed me and my house beyond belief
Not only is my husband a kind and loving spouse
He is an amazing dad who always been involved
Now, he’s had to become a mother to our son
He’s stepped into the role without a complaint escaping from his lips
He’s juggling his job and all of my motherly duties and no one has even suffered
Things may not e done the way that I would do them
But, that matters not to me
My blessing lies in knowing that my son is in his hands
He’s father, friend and this year, he’s also mother to our son
So, on this special Mother’s Day let me take some time to say:
Thank You, Nelson for all you’ve done and continue to do each day!!!!
