Inner Turmoil

written 6/08 (while recuperating from multiple surgeries)

Inner turmoil, outer restraint

Pain burning at the seams

Looking for an escape

Nowhere to go

Struggling to tear me down

Never, never, never the victor will it be

Pushing back

Holding it at bay

Bearable now

Daylight turns to darkness

Night into day

Eyes peter open

Who will be in charge today

Inner turmoil, outer restraint

The cycle continues

Pain erupts liker a volcano

Heat radiating

Senses stimulated to the point of agony

Outer restraint struggling to overcome

Hope on the horizon

Glimpses of relief

Words of encouragement

Smiles from a friend

A simple touch that says so much

Calming peace floods the soul

Inner turmoil does not win

At least, not for today
