Puppy Love

A sudden leap

A lick upon my face

A playful bark

A knowing look when I am feeling down

The perfect friend to have around

Is that a threat?

A stranger in our home?

The ears go back

The tail ceases to wag

The bark no longer friendly

The perfect protection to have around

The day draws on

It’s playtime now

A ball dropped at my feet

A rope for us to tug

Is that my shoe?

The chase begins

The perfect playmate to have around

A jump and then he’s in my lap

My hands upon his fur

A scratch behind his ears

A soft and gentle sigh of contentment

The perfect pup and part of the family

They aren't just dogs - they are part of the family
