Rainbow of Emotions

When I was just a young girl, everything seems so easy

The world was viewed in black-and-white

Things were either wrong or right, good or bad, happy or sad

As I grew up, I began to see life in so many more dimensions

To really live life you have to really view life

Not just in black or white but in all the colors life has to offer.

Red is for intensity.

Life can be extreme. Feelings can get hot

Don't run from the anger - it only fuels the flames

Don't let the fires of life burn you out-

Use them to help make a place for new growth.

Orange-a little red, a little yellow-

Does my mix of each always lead to the same shade

Or does it reflect how life can be an uncertain mixture of feelings?

Jealously takes my orange and tries to turn it red.

That's the time I need to reach out for some yellow

How? Through a hug or a kind word to cool me down.

Yellow is the sun that brings warmth and comfort into our lives.

We see it every time we see a smile, share in laughter

or do something nice for someone else.

We should always try to be a little yellow every day.

Green is for new life and growth.

We see it as we watch our children sprout up before our eyes.

We see it as we listen to the many " whys" they ask us

as they view and try to understand all the world is showing them.

Green should make us happy as we experience newfound growth.

Blue-so cool and refreshing like the water we see rolling in from the ocean

Without water we couldn't survive

We should daily strive to be someone else's " blue"-

Giving them love and encouragement when they are down

Let our smile be the wave that lifts them up.

Indigo-is it more blue or is it more purple?

Do we even know?

This color helps to show us just how confusing life can be.

When we drift around not quite sure how we feel

or maybe we just can’t put words to our emotions -

Let’s just call this an Indigo day.

Life isn’t always black or white.

Violiet or as we more often call it, Purple.

The color of royalty.

The color of resurrection

The color of hope that can only be found in the love of Jesus Christ

The color that puts the final touch on the rainbow and makes it complete,

Just as Jesus does for all His children.

Each color can easily stand alone in its beauty

But how much more stunning are they when combined to form a rainbow?

The same is true for us

We can live a life focusing only on one emotion, but how much more vibrant our
lives
might be if only we allow ourselves to experience them all

Let's not miss out on all that life has to offer

Take the time to enjoy all the colors of the rainbows in your life.
